Or perhaps you could utilize it to make a new shade picture look like a colourised old photograph by simply first converting it to black-and-white (Image > Adjustments > Black color and White). If you are operating from a scanned-in photo, you may have lines or folds in the image you may need to remove using the Healing or Clone Comb.
To make it easier to add colour to your image, you’ll need to convert it into the CMYK colour space. While RGB channels represent light and brightness, CMYK channels represent pigment and how much of each colour is applied to the image. With this in mind, along with a little basic colour theory, it will make controlling our channels and finding the right colour far easier. It will also allow us to tone the image without too much of an affect on the overall brightness.
To do this, go to Image > Mode > CMYK Color.
First of all, lets look at adding some colour to the skin. We'll make changes to the whole photo to commence with, then simply limit its effect to the areas of epidermis afterwards.
In the Alterations panel, select Add Fresh Curves icon. Rename this kind of layer to 'Skin'.
Nonetheless on the 'Skin' level, click the half-filled group next towards the layer hide to make the competition itself active again.
Inside the Properties panel (Window > Properties) press on the CMYK dropdown menu and choose Cyan.
Mouse click in the middle of the line that operates bottom-left to top-right inside the graph to make a new adjustment poin. Drag it down simply by about two squares for the grid to create a curve as shown.
The Input number below the curves grid should stay at 50, whilst the outcome should sit in around 30.
